Centrum Balticum Foundation has a deep understanding of the Baltic Sea Region

The Centrum Balticum Foundation helps experts, policymakers and organisations across the Baltic Sea Region connect, collaborate and create impact. We are an independent, non-profit foundation working to make regional cooperation easier and more effective through communication, knowledge-sharing and strong networks.

Projects and communications
We are an experienced and trusted partner in international project cooperation, specialised in communication, coordination and dialogue-building. Our extensive experience in EU-funded and cross-border projects ensures clear, effective communication and strong visibility for our partners.

Our role in the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region
Centrum Balticum has long worked at the heart of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, contributing to the development of its communication and governance. Today, we act as the secretariat of the Strategy, supporting the coordination, communication and development of the Strategy. Through our extensive networks, we facilitate access to European-level cooperation and policy dialogue.

Publications and dialogue
We provide insights and promote discussion on Baltic Sea Region development through our publications and events. Our work includes expert publication series and the annual Baltic Sea Region Forum, which brings together stakeholders to exchange perspectives on current regional challenges and opportunities.

EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region

Publications

We share policy-relevant knowledge on the Baltic Sea Region through our publications. Our publication series include Baltic Rim Economies, BSR Policy Briefings and Pulloposti column series.

Founders and Board of the Foundation

Centrum Balticum Foundation was founded in 2007 by five Finnish south-western coastal cities (Turku, Pori, Uusikaupunki, Rauma and Vaasa), the support foundations for three universities in Turku and the Regional Council of Southwest Finland.

The Board of Directors is the highest authority of the foundation. The members of the Board are selected for a period of two years at a time.
