Centrum Balticum is a Think Tank


Centrum Balticum is Finland's policy think tank on Baltic Sea regional issues.

Centrum Balticum is a platform between Baltic Sea research conducted in the Finnish universities and the Finnish policy-making processes on the Baltic Sea region.


In close co-operation with the universities Centrum Balticum generates new ideas for policy-making and challenges existing institutions and traditional ways of thinking. It also sets in motion public debate and acts as a training forum in order to reinforce the impact and voice of the Baltic Sea region in Europe.

05.03.2012 Joining the euro-zone – too late, too early or just right in time?

The Meetings with Ambassadors series of Centrum Balticum Centre continued on March 5th 2012 with the visit of Mart Tarmak, Estonian Ambassador to Finland. On January 1st, 2011 Estonia became the 17th member of the euro-zone. The process of joining was completed when several euro countries were in financial crisis and a natural question arises: “Was it the right time?”
