Accommodation:

Town of Hamina:

The Town of Hamina is located 150 kilometers east from Helsinki. Hamina has a long and colourful history because of its location by the sea and in the crossroads of many waterways. In this location with such a good means of communication and also vivid junction of trade, was founded the town of Hamina in year 1653.

Two hundred years ago also the Peace Treaty between Sweden and Russia was signed in Hamina. The treaty marked a turning point in the Finnish national history; over 600 years of state unity with Sweden ceased to exist and Finland became an autonomous Grand Duchy as a part of Russia.

The new autonomous status launched a vigorous effort for building a nation, which culminated in gaining the full sovereignty and independence in 1917.
