What is Centrum Balticum?


Centrum Balticum is an independent and policy-oriented think-tank, located in the heart of the City of Turku. The main ambition of Centrum Balticum is to transform ideas and proposals into policy issues and to serve as an independent voice of expertise in policy debates.

 

What does Centrum Balticum do?

  • Organises the annual national Baltic Sea Forum, which brings together Finnish Baltic Sea region actors
  • Maps instruments and policies for strengthening Finnish environmental technology clusters in the Baltic Sea region
  • Searches for ways to enhance the commitment of the Baltic Sea actors to cooperation and implementation of action plans and programmes
  • Coordinates the Baltic Sea Challenge of the cities of Turku and Helsinki
  • Supports the activities of the Protection Fund for the Archipelago Sea
  • Participates in, and influences the European discussion
